Dr. Hazel P. Berrard Amuah is a multiple time award winning seasoned leadership and business professional and international public speaker with over 25 years’ experience in the field. These awards include the Ghana top 40 HR professionals award, Ghana top 50 HR professionals award, the GHANA top 20 HR professionals award, the Ghana Woman professional of the year 2018, the HR practitioner of the year, 2019, Africa HR Personality of the year 2020, the Global Leadership Award 2021 and the most recent one being the awardee of Excellence in Human Relations and Corporate Service in 2021. Previously, she also led organisations to win the prestigious international Number 1 Top Employer international award 2017 – the best in West Africa, following same in 2015 and 2016.
She is an author a chartered insurer and a member of the Royal Chartered Insurance Institute. She is also fellow of the African Leadership Initiative – West Africa and an inaugural fellow among 100 Africans in the Pan African African Leadership Initiative.
She is interested in continuous people development with two terminal degrees in business administration from Switzerland and America as part of her leadership and business acumen to appropriately equip her with insights needed for her to successfully grow and lead in Africa as a HOT Zone. Her doctoral theses was in the field of culture and cross cultural leadership. She also holds a Master’s degree in Bilingual Translation (French and English) and a Master’s degree in Organisational Development. She is also a holder of Diplôme de Langue Française Niveau B2 du Conseil de l’Europe and a Diploma of Insurance from Malta.
Dr Hazel is a Henley certified coach from the UK and has cross cultural certification from the USA. Her work experience across 22 countries in central and West Africa spans industries like FMCG, Energy and the financial sector with areas of leadership, business and HR Specialisation across all the HR Practices.
She recently published her first solo book: WINNING IN THE JUNGLE which is fast gaining the attention of a wide readership.
She is a co-author on the topic of leadership in CONTEMPORARY BUSINESS IMPERATIVES IN A DEVELOPING ECONOMY which was edited by Professor Kwaku Appiah-Adu and His Excellency Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as well as the co-author of performance management in “CONTEXT: EXECUTING STRATEGY IN A DEVELOPING ECONOMY” which was also edited by Professor Kwaku Appiah-Adu, His Excellency Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and Dr. Hene Aku Kwapong. She has published several other papers which have been featured in international academic journals.
She is also the founder of Reach Out and Share Foundation which is an NGO founded in 2009 which focuses on providing support for the less and under privileged in our society. Also in 2009, she founded People Factory Ltd which specializes in leadership, Business Strategy and Human Capital issues.
She is a visiting faculty Professor at China European International Business School and used to be an adjunct lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School and the. She is an avid cyclist and masquerader and is blessed with two wonderful children.
Fun Facts
Dr Amuah loves music but is a terrible dancer. She is terrified of flies and mosquitoes and is horrible at riddles. Guess what: when she is confused she loses her thought process completely; and, you won’t believe this: she can’t sing to save her life.
Her favourite foods are kelewele, red red (beans and plantain), hausa kooko and waakye. Get her some grilled corn, tiger nut porridge, boiled groundnuts or almonds on a stressful day and you would get her beaming with smiles.
